Book Review & Giving Away a Copy of Paul David Tripp’s New Book!

Since becoming a parent I have read my fair share of parenting books. The majority of those books seem to have the solution to parenting that is laid out in a formula or to-do list format with the hopes that each parent could follow to raise “great” kids. Sure, you can get some great ideas but the focus tends to be about getting your kids to act the way you want them to act, rather than dealing with the root issues. In Paul Tripp’s book, Parenting 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family, there is no formula or to-do list. His focus is to get parents to see God’s big picture plan for parenting and for parents to realize that behind every negative action from your child, is a heart issue.cover1

For me the thread of grace that ran throughout all 14 chapters helped to realign my focus as a parent. I was able to see just how essential grace is to parenting. I tend to have tunnel vision as a parent and focus so much on “fixing” the external reactions to an internal issue in my kids. When I do, I lack understanding and grace.

I would recommend this book not as the guide book to “fix” your kids, but to change your perspective and realign your vision of what parenting is really all about! Paul Tripp’s book is easy to understand and relatable, with real life examples of God’s big picture perspective to parenting. This is one of those books I will be sure to read again for a refresher!

Fly By Promotions has provided me with a copy of this book to offer as a giveaway in exchange for my honest review.
